‘Mandous’ effect: Karnataka’s south interior districts to get heavy rain for next 4 days

The impact of the cyclone ‘Mandous’ was evident in Bengaluru as the minimum temperature dropped to 16.8 degrees Celsius on Saturday morning, accompanied by 4.3 mm of rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in the south interior districts of Karnataka until December 14 due to the cyclonic storm.

Districts such as Bengaluru Urban, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Ramanagar, Kodagu, Hassan, Shivamogga, Mysuru, Tumkuru, Davangere, and Chitradurga are expected to experience isolated heavy rainfall during this period, as per IMD forecasts. On Friday evening, specific areas in Bengaluru, including BTM, Kasturi Nagar, and RR Nagar, witnessed a drop in the minimum temperature to 16 degrees Celsius.

Since October, Bengaluru has recorded a total of 384.3 mm of rainfall, according to the IMD. The cyclonic storm ‘Mandous,’ initially over north coastal Tamil Nadu, moved northwestwards and weakened into a deep depression. The IMD statement on Saturday mentioned that it is likely to continue moving nearly west-northwestwards and gradually weaken into a depression by noon on December 10.

Over the next 24 hours, Bengaluru is expected to experience a maximum temperature of around 21 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of approximately 18 degrees Celsius.
