Maharashtra: Five college students killed in car accident in Nashik

On Friday evening in Maharashtra’s Nashik district, a tragic accident resulted in the death of at least five college students, with four others sustaining injuries. The incident occurred around 4:30 pm on the Nashik-Pune national highway in Mohadari Ghat near Sinnar.

The victims, a group of eight students from Nashik’s KTHM College aged between 16 and 20, were returning to Nashik after attending a wedding in Sangamner. The speeding car they were in overturned, rolling three or four times before colliding with two other vehicles approaching from the opposite direction.

Tragically, five students lost their lives on the spot, and three others suffered injuries, including the driver of one of the oncoming cars. Among the deceased were two women, and the driver of the students’ car was also among those who did not survive. The identities of two individuals, one male and one female, are yet to be confirmed.

The severity of the impact caused the car to overturn multiple times, resulting in all its tires bursting. The accident had a significant impact on traffic in the area for some time. Three of the injured individuals are reported to be in critical condition. The authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
